Family stories
Behind every statistic about severe mental illness is a family living it. On this page you’ll find two kinds of stories — because our fight has two sides.
Recovery stories are our proof. They are families who got their loved ones the help they needed — treatment, medication, stability — and watched them go on living full, wonderful, meaningful lives. These stories are the answer to anyone who says involuntary treatment doesn’t work, or that recovery isn’t possible. It is possible. Here is the evidence.
This is our fight, and it comes down to three words: treatment = recovery.
Family stories are the fight happening right now. They are families going through the system today — our loved ones are suffering, still not recovered, still being failed by the law as it stands. These stories are why we can’t wait.
